We headed out from Sevilla on October 21, 2019 aiming for about three weeks of walking on the Via de la Plata, one of Spain's many caminos
Merida was a very important Roman city on the Iberian peninsula, known as Augusta Emerita.
A few more days of walking brought us to the monumental city of Cáceres and another rest day and lots of great food.
So many signs along the way. Showing you where to go. Or just interesting. And only rarely confusing.
We enjoyed some days of incredible natural beauty as we moved northward and the landscape became greener.
We decided to walk for a fourth week aiming for Salamanca. The weather was turning and we knew it might be a challenge.
