We headed out from Sevilla on October 21, 2019 aiming for about three weeks of walking on the Via de la Plata, one of Spain's many caminos
Merida was a very important Roman city on the Iberian peninsula, known as Augusta Emerita.
A few more days of walking brought us to the monumental city of Cáceres and another rest day and lots of great food.
So many signs along the way. Showing you where to go. Or just interesting. And only rarely confusing.
We enjoyed some days of incredible natural beauty as we moved northward and the landscape became greener.
We decided to walk for a fourth week aiming for Salamanca. The weather was turning and we knew it might be a challenge.
After finishing the walk we decided it was time to start heading south again in search of warmer weather. Cordoba was our first stop.
A few pics from the lovely "pueblo blanco" or white town or Vejer de la Frontera.
After a few lovely days in Málaga with friends, we made our way to Sevilla where we would start our camino.
We stopped by the cathedral to snap the obligatory photos of us heading out, then easily made our way through Sevilla and across the bridge to Triana. It was exciting to start seeing markers and to imagine what was ahead.
